About 18 kilometers from Cienfuegos city, bordering the bay towards the east, it appears, after a hill, the open sea, wide horizon, with Rancho Luna beach at the shore, traditional bathing place of Cienfuegos inhabitants. Six kilometers away it is Pasacaballos Hotel, on the entrance channel of the bay, under the watch of the Jagua Fortress. The main attractive of this area is sunken under the transparent waters of the silence world.

Between Los Colorados and Gavilanes points, a wide inlet opens where the platform extends up to 200 meters offshore in front of Rancho Luna beach before sinking to the abysm. In this area the recreational contemplative diving is practiced in 30 official dive sites characterized by the diversity of its flora and fauna and the way they mix to enchant divers.

In the central south region there are other important diving areas, splendid underwater sceneries. These sites can be reached by boat or by road taking the excursions from the diving center.

Why choosing Faro Luna for a journey of dive?

The diving area of Faro Luna characterizes for its diversity, and the platform appears curiously accidental bottoms depicting channels, tunnels and monticules that feature real labyrinths.

The colorful bottoms are colonized by corals which reefs rise up to a few meters near the surface in some points. Corals, sponges, seaweed and gorgonies form this submerged garden, where many sea-life species have their natural habitat. The coral column (dendroggyra cilindrus) is very common, which magnifies in the reef called Notre Dame or The Lady of the Caribbean, rising more than five meters high.

On sand among the rocky bottom, rest several sunken ships, covered by multicolor life where many fishes and other pleasant surprises find refugee. There are also historical sites as the English cable, while still others callously watch the legends inheritaged from the natives, former inhabitants of Jagua. The vertical walls apart the submerged garden from the limits of appreciative diving (40 mts), a farewell with the spelling contrast of the blues.

Depths of diving points in the plattform range between 5 and 40 meters, and there are many points ideal to snorkeling and underwater photography, enjoyable as much for the companniards of the divers as for them themselves.

All the diving sites (officially 30) are near the coast, and the farthest can be quickly reached by motor boats in less than 10 minutes from the diving center.
