SIERRA MAR DIVING CENTER IS LOCATED IN ALL INCLUSIVE HOTEL SIERRA MAR IN SANTIAGO DE CUBA.
THERE ARE MORE THAN 20 DIVE SITES WHICH INCLUDE REEF, WALL AND NIGHT DIVING.
THE DEPTHS RANGE BETWEEN 25 TO 100 FEET AND ARE ACCESSED BY BOAT.

AMONG THOSE DIVESITES ONE HOUR AWAY BUS RIDE THERE IS A SHORE ACCESS TO DIVE ON THE SPANISH BATTLESHIP CRISTOBAL COLON WHICH SUNK IN THE NAVAL BATTLE IN 1898.

The coral reef forms capricious growths that go from barriers attached to the coast and hummocks scattered in extensive sandbanks, to ridges, shallow and deep veriles and impressive walls. Gorgonians, sea fans and sponges, upholstered coral bottoms, schools of coral fish, groupers and barracudas inhabit the place. The sunken ships in the vicinity of the Diving Center have become artificial reefs where a sessile fauna of striking colors grows, and schools of different species of fish inhabit it.

It is characterized by high mogotes separated from each other by narrow buckets, upholstered with beautiful fossil invertebrates that form caves and tunnels where fish, crustaceans and mollusks take refuge. A narrow marine platform drops to the gently sloping stream at a depth of 35 meters, where a steep vertical wall descends to more than 1,000 meters. Warships belonging to the Spanish fleet commanded by Admiral Pascual Cervera, sunk by US ships in mid-1898, during the Spanish-Cuban-American War are located near points on the seabed.
