What is the diving like?
The area has several dive sites for all levels, including open water training. With 30 registered dive sites, it is one of the most versatile places in Cuba. Here, you’ll find a vertical wall with a depth that far exceeds the recreational limit just 500m from the shore, with gigantic coral formations and shallow reefs between 4 to 5m or 13 to 16 feet. The seabed is very interesting, with many cracks and small caverns, as well as approximately 12 shipwrecks, at all depths.
The most popular sites are El Laberinto and La Corona. El Laberinto, Spanish for The Labyrinth, has cracks and caverns at different depths. La Corona is a huge coral formation on a wall, where there’s a shipwreck at 25m or 82 feet with a healthy abundance of corals and marine life. Both places have swimthroughs that when open into an immense and endless blue. The swimthroughs are also highly varied, so you can dive the same place several times without repeating the route.
The water temperature varies between 25 degrees Celsius (minimum during the winter) and 31-32 during the summer. All dive sites are very close, the boat transfer for most varies between 5 and 10 minutes, which allows us to return to the dive centre during surface intervals for an espresso or snack.
Our team consists of local dive guides. The dive centre is just a few feet from the hotel, and the tanks and weights are on the dock for easy handling. We always work to make every dive a pleasant memory.
